Volunteering at the Adoption Center
During the morning and in the early evening, seven days per week
there are people who come to the shelter and help us keep a safe,
clean and comfortable environment for the kitties. While here
we always try to give a bit of hands-on interaction so that the
kitties learn to feel comfortable and loved. The rewards are
very therapeutic for humans. Our volunteer men, women, and
children range from 11 to 70 years old. (Children between the ages of 11 and
15 must have a parent volunteer with them.)
As the seasons change so do people's lives; we always need
people to fill in the gaps.
When we meet at the shelter to work on the cage cleaning and
feeding we usually spend about two hours making the shelter
ship shape for the comfort of the kitties. After feeding, most
of the cats are let out together for exercise and play while
we clean their cages. There are numerous little tasks and fix-it
projects that we can use help with. Most people come in once
per week although others prefer to come more frequently to
be with the kitties. Sure hope you might find some time to
help us out.
